McMenamin, an attorney, said the old Kmart is an example of the city’s overabundance of office and retail space.
“While it’s very, I guess, tempting to think that a Lakota study with its vision will bring in $20 million investments and $30 million investments, I think we need a backup plan at the micro level. … We have to look at low cost ways to beautify the streets.”
McMenamin reiterated his earlier pledge to use his $15,000 aldermanic salary to rent office space along MacArthur and be available there on weekends and at least one night a week in addition to being available by phone and e-mail.
