If four years ago represented a changing of the guard in Springfield city government, Wednesday was a continuation of the status quo as Mayor Jim Langfelder and other city elected officials — mostly incumbents — were sworn in to new terms.
Langfelder was sworn in for his second term along with incumbent City Clerk Frank Lesko and incumbent Treasurer Misty Buscher. Eight incumbent Springfield City Council members also were sworn in, along with two newcomers.

Hanauer was among eight incumbents sworn in for a new term after being re-elected in April. The others are Ward 1 Ald. Chuck Redpath, Ward 3 Ald. Doris Turner, Ward 4 Ald. John Fulgenzi, Ward 5 Ald. Andrew Proctor, Ward 6 Ald. Kristin DiCenso, Ward 7 Ald. Joe McMenamin and Ward 9 Ald. Jim Donelan.
“A new term always presents opportunity, hope, inspiration, fresh beginning, so one is always hopeful at the start of a new council,” McMenamin said. “There’s lots to be accomplished, and I think there’s a spirit of togetherness in the pursuit of common objectives, and so I’m excited to serve the city another four years with the other alderpersons, the mayor, the treasurer and the clerk.”
