Schedule finalized for ward meetings throughout Springfield; begins June 2 – May 25, 2021

After a year’s absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Springfield announced Monday a full slate of ward planning meetings that will begin with Wards 9 and 10 meeting jointly June 2.

An outside facilitator will lead each discussion to gather information from attendees about neighborhoods and city needs from residents’ perspectives.

The discussions will be used to gather feedback on projects for each ward along with the city overall.

Julia Frevert, a spokeswoman for the city, said Mayor Jim Langfelder planned to attend all of the ward meetings with the directors of the city departments, including Police Chief Kenny Winslow and Fire Chief Brandon Blough.

The meeting for Wards 9 and 10, represented by Alds. Jim Donelan and Ralph Hanauer respectively, will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 2200 Meadowbrook Rd., from 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 2.

Other ward meetings are:

  • Ward 5 (Ald. Andrew Proctor): June 3, Wyndham City Centre, 700 E. Adams St., 5:30 to 7 p.m.;
  • Ward 8 (Ald. Erin Conley): June 5, Levi, Ray & Shoup (LRS), 2401 W. Monroe St., 10 to 11:30 a.m.;
  • Ward 6 (Ald. Kristin DiCenso): June 7, Blessed Sacrament School (cafeteria), 748 W. Laurel St., 5:30 to 7 p.m.;
  • Ward 2 (Ald. Shawn Gregory): June 9, Salvation Army Community Center, 1600 E. Clear Lake Ave., 5:30 to 7 p.m.;
  • Ward 1 (Ald. Chuck Redpath): June 10, Elks Lodge #158, 409 E. Lake Shore Dr., 5:30 to 7 p.m.;
  • Ward 4 (Ald. John Fulgenzi): June 12, Fulgenzi’s Pizza & Pasta, 1168 Sangamon Ave., 9:30 to 11 a.m.;
  • Ward 7 (Ald. Joe McMenamin): June 14, Hope Presbyterian Church, 2211 Wabash Ave., 5:30 to 7 p.m.;
  • Ward 3 (Ald. Roy Williams Jr.): June 16, One In a Million Resource Center, 700 S. Livingston St., 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The city recommends anyone who is attending a ward meeting wear a face mask. However, per CDC guidance, it is not required for anyone who is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
